Key findings include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"2101\">\n<li data-start=\"1351\" data-end=\"1570\">\n<p data-start=\"1353\" data-end=\"1570\">Ageing infrastructure: Many airport cargo facilities &#8211; including warehouses, aprons and truck areas &#8211; are no longer fit for purpose and are struggling to handle the demands of modern logistics and larger aircraft.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1571\" data-end=\"1755\">\n<p data-start=\"1573\" data-end=\"1755\">Bottlenecks and congestion: Poorly designed access roads, limited truck parking, and congested cargo ramps contribute to costly delays and inefficiencies across the supply chain.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1756\" data-end=\"1943\">\n<p data-start=\"1758\" data-end=\"1943\">Gaps in data: The report identifies limitations in air cargo data collected by the Department of Transportation (DOT), which hamper effective planning and infrastructure investment.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1944\" data-end=\"2101\">\n<p data-start=\"1946\" data-end=\"2101\">Lack of stakeholder engagement: The GAO points to insufficient federal dialogue with air cargo players, leaving key operational pain points unresolved.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2103\" data-end=\"2309\">According to AfA, these deficiencies not only result in higher operating costs for freight forwarders but also threaten the competitiveness of US trade, particularly for high-value and time-sensitive goods.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2311\" data-end=\"2701\">\u201cThis GAO report is more than just an analysis; it\u2019s a critical tool that empowers the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforwarders.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Airforwarders Association<\/a> to intensify our efforts to seek dedicated federal funding,\u201d Fried added. \u201cOur goal is clear: to reduce airport truck lines, modernise facilities, and ultimately lower operational costs for our members, ensuring a more efficient and resilient supply chain for all US commerce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2703\" data-end=\"2916\">The AfA now plans to use the GAO\u2019s findings to press for more targeted investment in
