Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport has achieved its strongest-ever cargo performance for the first half of a calendar year, according to figures released by airport operator, the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL S.A.).<\/p>\n

Between January and June 2025, the airport\u2019s dedicated cargo terminal in Pyrzowice handled 21,954 tonnes of freight – an increase of 12.3% (2,412 tonnes) compared to the same period in 2024. The volume also exceeded Katowice\u2019s previous first-half record, set in 2022, by 11.6%.<\/p>\n

June 2025 was the airport\u2019s busiest month on record for cargo throughput, with 4,398 tonnes handled – surpassing the prior monthly high set just two months earlier, in April 2025.<\/p>\n

GTL S.A. president Artur Tomasik pointed to sustained growth in e-commerce volumes as a key driver: \u201cWe estimate that in 2025 Katowice Airport will handle, for the second time in its history, more than 40,000 tonnes of freight. We see big potential in this segment of traffic, especially when it comes to transport for the e-commerce branch. Our long-term goal is to handle over 100,000 tonnes of cargo yearly.\u201d<\/p>\n
