This is encouraging, but the market remains uncertain. The outlook for the coming months is positive,” he said.

CargoLand, promoted as the place ‘where freight meets magic’, is designed to position Liege as Europe’s premier air cargo destination. The initiative has already contributed to a rise in the number of airlines operating at Liege Airport (from 41 to 51) and logistics providers (from 50 to 61).

The CargoLand offering spans sectors including e-commerce, MRO, pharma, perishables and express freight. Liege Airport says it is focusing on tailored, technology-driven cargo processes, such as enhanced tracking, route planning and real-time cargo flow monitoring. Multimodal connectivity and a flexible, customer-oriented commercial approach are also central to the brand’s proposition.

Despite global uncertainty – including tariff concerns, currency fluctuations and geopolitical instability – Liege Airport has seen no slowdown in its transatlantic cargo flows. In fact, US trade volumes have surged. Since January, over 101,000 tonnes of import and export cargo have passed through LGG’s warehouses for the US market, a 34.5% increase on the same period in 2024.

Wefers added: “CargoLand offers commodity-specific, tailored cargo processes based on advanced technology… [and] will deliver a success and customer-oriented commercial approach that will leave a lasting imprint on the European logistics landscape.”

READ MORE NEWS: <a
