{"id":184903,"date":"2025-07-09T17:00:49","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T16:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/?p=184903"},"modified":"2025-07-09T17:00:49","modified_gmt":"2025-07-09T16:00:49","slug":"bombardiers-new-paint-shop-at-biggin-hill-on-track-for-2026-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/mro\/latest-news-mro\/bombardiers-new-paint-shop-at-biggin-hill-on-track-for-2026-launch\/","title":{"rendered":"Bombardier\u2019s new paint shop at Biggin Hill on track for 2026 launch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"392\" data-end=\"722\">Bombardier is advancing construction of its new 51,000 sqft paint facility at the London Biggin Hill Service Centre, with key groundwork and foundation phases now completed and structural framing well underway.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"392\" data-end=\"722\">The two-bay hangar is expected to open in the second half of 2026 and will employ over 50 skilled paint technicians.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"724\" data-end=\"1063\">This latest development enhances the service centre\u2019s growing capabilities, adding a dedicated paint shop to its portfolio of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, modifications and avionics services for Global, Challenger and Learjet aircraft. Once complete, it will complement the centre\u2019s existing 250,000 sqft of maintenance space.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1065\" data-end=\"1407\">Sander Podgoric, general manager of the London Biggin Hill Service Centre, said: \u201cThe addition of the new paint facility at the London Biggin Hill Airport adds a sought-after service element to the already comprehensive offerings for our customers, ensuring they have a complete maintenance experience to help keep their aircraft in the air.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1619\">The project recently attracted the attention of Peter Fortune, Member of Parliament for Bromley and Biggin Hill, who visited the site on July 4 to witness the expansion progress and speak with Bombardier staff.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1895\">\u201cIt was incredible to see behind-the-scenes at Bombardier\u2019s state-of-the-art engineering facility,\u201d said Fortune. \u201cIt is exciting to see their commitment to developing in Bromley with the construction of their new paint facility, creating more local jobs and opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1897\" data-end=\"2144\">Since opening in 2017 and undergoing a major expansion in 2022, the Biggin Hill facility has become a flagship for Bombardier in Europe, contributing significantly to the local economy and serving as a strategic hub for MRO services in the region.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2655\">In addition to the new paint hangar, the service centre has seen other upgrades in recent years. In 2024, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bombardier.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bombardier<\/a> and interior specialist F\/LIST opened a 700 sqft material lounge, offering customers access to an extensive range of interior finishes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2146\" data-end=\"2655\">Last year also saw the installation of over 3,000 solar panels on the centre\u2019s roof, and the establishment of a new line maintenance station at Farnborough Airport, expanding Bombardier\u2019s light maintenance and AOG support capability in southern England.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE NEWS: <a
