Engineering and maintenance provider HAECO has announced a partnership with the Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre (LSCM) to implement Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) solutions at HAECO\u2019s maintenance facility in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

The collaboration represents a significant leap in technological applications and operational innovation for HAECO, as it leverages robotics automation to boost productivity and efficiency.<\/p>\n

The partnership combines HAECO\u2019s aircraft maintenance expertise with LSCM\u2019s recognised R&D capabilities in robotics, automation, and smart logistics to deploy an AMR solution that optimises material transport within HAECO\u2019s maintenance facility.<\/p>\n

By enabling the overnight delivery of aircraft tools and parts to maintenance bays, the automation technology will streamline HAECO\u2019s operations and expedite turnaround times for maintenance work the following day.<\/p>\n

Summit Chan, group director of corporate development at HAECO, said: “By automating the material delivery process, we enable our maintenance teams to focus on high-value tasks, enhancing both productivity and turnaround times for HAECO.<\/p>\n

“Our partnership with LSCM not only enhances our technological capabilities but also aligns with our vision to support Hong Kong\u2019s innovation and technology ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n

The AMR features a rear-mounted trolley system capable of transporting materials of various shapes and sizes, offering greater flexibility than traditional AMR systems which are limited to standard pallets or fixed shelving.<\/p>\n

Equipped with Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) technology, the AMR can map their surroundings in real time, determine their precise location and navigate autonomously through complex hangar environments.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the AMR can manoeuvre smoothly across uneven surfaces and tight spaces, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable material delivery.<\/p>\n

The project was rolled out in the second quarter of 2025, with field trials set to commence in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n

Simon Wong, chief executive at LSCM, said: “We are excited to collaborate with HAECO<\/a> in developing robotics technology to enhance the efficiency of aircraft maintenance work and alleviate the workload of staff. We look forward to our further collaboration in the automation of their maintenance facility, fostering the digitalisation of the industry.”<\/p>\n
