{"id":184177,"date":"2025-06-09T12:40:12","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T11:40:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/?p=184177"},"modified":"2025-06-09T12:40:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T11:40:12","slug":"milestone-for-a350f-as-first-wingset-finished-at-airbus-broughton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/cargo\/cargo-news\/milestone-for-a350f-as-first-wingset-finished-at-airbus-broughton\/","title":{"rendered":"Milestone for A350F as first wingset finished at Airbus Broughton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"70\" data-end=\"238\">Airbus has completed the first set of wings for its next-generation A350 freighter aircraft (A350F), marking a major milestone at its Broughton facility.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"240\" data-end=\"606\">The A350F wings, which share their design with the A350 passenger jet, are being built on the same production line, enabling efficiencies in both operations and manufacturing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"240\" data-end=\"606\">Constructed using advanced composite materials, the wings are designed to be lighter and more aerodynamically efficient &#8211; key features of what Airbus calls the world\u2019s most advanced freighter.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"240\" data-end=\"606\">The wings are set to be flown to Bremen via Airbus&#8217; distinctive BelugaXL transporter for final equipping, before heading to Toulouse where they will be joined to the fuselage of the first A350F test aircraft. Airbus is building two test aircraft that will undergo a full flight-test campaign through 2026 and 2027.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"1206\">The A350F promises significant improvements over current freighters in service, including at least 20% lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions, the industry&#8217;s largest cargo door (4.3 metres wide) for more efficient loading, and the ability to carry up to 111 tonnes over 8,700 kilometres.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1351\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The milestone underscores the continued importance of the Broughton site, which has been manufacturing Airbus wings for more than five decades.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Kilmister, head of widebody wings at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.airbus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Airbus<\/a> Broughton, said: \u201cThis is a proud moment for everyone at Broughton, completing the first ever A350F wingset. With almost 1,400 orders for the A350, including 63 A350F, Broughton will continue to play a critical role in the future of the programme, supporting Airbus\u2019 growth in passenger and freight
