{"id":183062,"date":"2025-04-08T16:52:34","date_gmt":"2025-04-08T15:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/?p=183062"},"modified":"2025-04-08T16:52:34","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T15:52:34","slug":"hactl-to-establish-hong-kongs-first-5g-private-network-enabled-air-cargo-terminal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/cargo\/cargo-news\/hactl-to-establish-hong-kongs-first-5g-private-network-enabled-air-cargo-terminal\/","title":{"rendered":"Hactl to establish Hong Kong\u2019s first 5G private network-enabled air cargo terminal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) and HKT have announced their collaboration to establish Hong Kong\u2019s first 5G private network-enabled air cargo terminal which aims to enhance Hactl\u2019s automation capabilities and boost its global logistics efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The high-speed, ultra-low latency, secure and reliable\u00a05G private network\u00a0will\u00a0transform air cargo terminal management at Hactl into a\u00a0smart, interconnected ecosystem, paving the way for the future adoption of advanced technologies for enhanced productivity.<\/p>\n<p>Hactl says the deployment will significantly enhance its operational efficiency through the following enhancements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seamless\u202fAutonomous Electric Tractor (AET)\u202foperations: The 5G private network will enable Hactl\u2019s AETs to efficiently transport cargo with real time coordination and dynamically adapt to traffic and safety protocols, reducing the need for human intervention.<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced security with Patrol Robots: Equipped with AI-powered video analytics and 5G private network, Hactl\u2019s security robots will continuously patrol cargo areas and transmit live footage to Hactl\u2019s Security Control Centre over a dedicated, secure 5G mobile channel for real time surveillance and instant threat detection and response.<\/li>\n<li>Smart warehouse automation: Hactl\u2019s 5G-connected Smart Cargo Locating system will streamline warehouse logistics by utilising real-time positioning and automated cargo tracking. Smart Forklifts for cargo racking will communicate with one another and the central operations system to optimise workflow and minimise manual errors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Steve Ng, managing director of commercial group at HKT, said: \u201cConnectivity is of paramount importance for digital transformation in the air cargo industry. HKT is committed to leveraging our private 5G network solutions to facilitate air cargo terminal operators to achieve real-time automation, AI-driven logistics and enhanced security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur collaboration with Hactl represents a major step towards next-generation air cargo logistics, reinforcing Hong Kong\u2019s position as a global leader in smart cargo operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wilson Kwong, chief executive of Hactl, said: \u201cHactl\u2019s success to date is firmly based on its enthusiastic adoption of the very latest technologies throughout its business.
