{"id":182294,"date":"2025-03-12T17:23:57","date_gmt":"2025-03-12T17:23:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/?p=182294"},"modified":"2025-03-12T17:23:57","modified_gmt":"2025-03-12T17:23:57","slug":"lufthansa-technik-malta-to-open-787-dreamliner-cabin-mod-facility-by-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/mro\/latest-news-mro\/lufthansa-technik-malta-to-open-787-dreamliner-cabin-mod-facility-by-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Lufthansa Technik Malta to open 787 Dreamliner cabin mod facility by 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lufthansa Technik Malta is expanding its facilities with a new 6,400 sqm hangar dedicated to Boeing 787 Dreamliner cabin modifications.<\/p>\n<p>As the only MRO provider globally authorised by Boeing to both engineer and implement 787 cabin modifications, Lufthansa Technik is reinforcing its capabilities with this expansion.<\/p>\n<p>This hangar is scheduled to be open in 2026 and will also generate approximately 70 new jobs, growing the workforce at Lufthansa Technik Malta to nearly 650 employees.<\/p>\n<p>The new hangar will accommodate one widebody aircraft, while three additional parking spots will be created for narrowbody jets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1376\">Once completed, the new facility will be integrated into the existing Lufthansa Technik Malta site, bringing the total number of hangars to four. This will enable the company to provide MRO services for nearly all Airbus commercial aircraft &#8211; except the A380 &#8211; as well as the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1585\" data-end=\"1830\">Lufthansa Technik received Boeing\u2019s license for 787 cabin modifications last year and has since been preparing for these specialised services. The first modification project is scheduled to begin later this year in one of the existing hangars.<\/p>\n<p>On March 12, Lufthansa Technik formalised the expansion agreement in Malta, alongside key representatives from the political and business sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Maria Cilia, chief executive of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lufthansa-technik.com\/en\/lufthansa-technik-malta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lufthansa Technik Malta<\/a>, said: &#8220;Today marks a historic moment for Lufthansa Technik Malta as we embark on a transformative journey that will shape the future of our company.
