{"id":181050,"date":"2025-01-22T17:42:33","date_gmt":"2025-01-22T17:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/?p=181050"},"modified":"2025-01-22T17:42:33","modified_gmt":"2025-01-22T17:42:33","slug":"starlink-hardware-approved-for-use-on-atr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/industry-news\/starlink-hardware-approved-for-use-on-atr\/","title":{"rendered":"Starlink hardware approved for use on ATR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following successful test flights carried out on ATR\u2019s 72-600 test aircraft in the past months, hardware for SpaceX&#8217;s Starlink connectivity product has been certified by EASA.<\/p>\n<p>Long-standing ATR customer Air New Zealand is said to be the launch customer, bringing internet to its domestic flights from 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, PMV Engineering has developed the necessary modifications for the certification of the Starlink aeroterminal on ATR aircraft, which is now available as a retrofit option on ATR 72-500 and \u2013600 for all ATR operators through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC).<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/low-cost\/abelo-converts-atr-42-stol-order-to-other-aircraft\/\">Abelo converts ATR 42 STOL order to other aircraft<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Starlink is the world\u2019s first and largest satellite constellation using a low-Earth orbit to deliver broadband similar to that which passengers are used to having at home.<\/p>\n<p>Eric Sperazza, Chief Executive Officer at PMV Engineering, added: \u201cWe\u2019re honoured to be the providers of such a revolutionary technology onboard ATR aircraft, sharing our expertise and solution-led approach to open up new opportunities for ATR, its customers and their passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Cuchet, Senior Vice-President Engineering at ATR, commented: \u201cStarlink opens up a new era for ATR, offering unparalleled levels of comfort and passenger experience in the regional market.
