{"id":178136,"date":"2024-09-09T14:44:02","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T13:44:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/?p=178136"},"modified":"2024-09-09T14:44:02","modified_gmt":"2024-09-09T13:44:02","slug":"bas-acquires-and-disassembles-cfm56-5a-engine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aviationbusinessnews.com\/mro\/latest-news-mro\/bas-acquires-and-disassembles-cfm56-5a-engine\/","title":{"rendered":"BAS acquires and disassembles CFM56-5A engine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aircraft parts provider Broward Aviation Services (BAS) has acquired a CFM56-5A engine with a long Life-Limited Part (LLP) remaining.<\/p>\n<p>BAS says\u00a0that disassembly is now complete and all components are undergoing MRO at specialist workshops in the US, Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n<p>This niche market engine is particularly relevant for operators of A320 family aircraft, but with parts commonality applicable to the 7B engine, it also suits the 737NG.<\/p>\n<p>Dennis Amaty, co-founder and president of BAS, said: \u201cHigh demand is due to the global fleet flying longer than anticipated and commonality of parts with 5B and 7B engines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are currently looking to invest in further engines for part-out \u2013 particularly CFM56, V2500-A5s and CF6-80s, and anticipate the first integration of the parts into our stock hubs in the US and Ireland later this month.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Amaty added: &#8220;We\u2019re working with MROs, repair shops and airlines who are keen to support their engine capabilities with access to quality engines and parts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>AERO CARE, a provider of engine aftermarket services and support to the narrowbody commercial aviation industry, is supporting BAS as it strategically expands its engine parts portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Anca Mihalache, managing director of AERO CARE, said: &#8220;Access to flexible and immediate funding to take advantage of engine acquisitions is crucial in today\u2019s market.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Finding partners with the confidence and ability of BAS to close deals of this type is of paramount importance in today\u2019s highly competitive aftermarket.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>BAS says it is targeting further acquisitions to support the growth ambitions for the business and plans to tear down three more assets in 2024, with a clear target of four\/five in 2025, and more in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>BAS says this will augment their expanding spare parts division, including a new facility that is due to open in Shannon, Ireland, and will comprise the complete array of overhauled components including LLPs, fan blades, HPT and HPC blades.<\/p>\n<p>Amaty added: &#8220;We know our assets and the complexities of the aviation market. The acquisition of this CFM56-5A is important for our portfolio as we develop our capabilities and build our reputation as a strong and reliable partner for our narrowbody customers in the aviation industry.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mihalache added: &#8220;I am very excited to collaborate with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.browardav.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BAS<\/a> as they turn their attention to engine components. As a company, they have built a solid foundation over the past 25 years and can be distinguished by their focus on quality and accuracy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They have a reputation as the \u2018go to\u2019
