Hungarian LCC Wizz Air is to put its new A321XLR jets to work on a long-range route.<\/p>\n

The haul, between Milan Malpensa and Abu Dhabi will take between 6-7 hours and will start in June 2025 and will be worked, at least initially, by the carrier’s first A321XLR which is scheduled for delivery in February 2025 according to reports.<\/p>\n

European ex-pats wanting to visit home will no doubt welcome the service, as fares are likely to be substantially lower than existing carriers flying from Abu Dhabi or DXB to Italy.<\/p>\n

“The Airbus A321XLR is the most cost-efficient aircraft of its class and, given the enhanced range capability, it enables Wizz Air to connect the furthest destinations in its network and further expand it, connecting cultures and continents. We\u2019re excited to unlock unbeatable fares for our customers on the newly announced route to Abu Dhabi, while offering the most sustainable option for flying”, CEO J\u00f3zsef V\u00e1radi told a press conference in Milan.<\/p>\n

“We are already flying several 5-6 hour long ultra-low-cost routes with great satisfaction to our customers, and the XLR will extend our outstanding value proposition to 7-8-hour long flights”.<\/p>\n

The Milan route is unlikely to be the last long-haul to be offered by the LCC as eight of the long-range jet variants are to be delivered in 2025, part of a total order of 47.<\/p>\n
